Parts washers are an ideal component of large and medium scale businesses in the engineering and automotive industries.

They help to extend the functionality of machinery and make it easy to disassemble and reassemble them quickly.

As efficient as they are, you need to ensure that you choose the right one. Parts washers come with varying specifications, so you must get one that meets your needs.

Here are four qualities to look for.

  1. The parts washer is the right size

The size of the parts washer you need should depend on the parts you manufacture or repair.

If you’re responsible for fixing or manufacturing truck parts, you’ll need a washer with a minimum of about 40 inches of working height and a 30-inch work table.

If your parts washer is too small for the parts, effective cleaning is impossible - and if it’s too big, you might find yourself wasting solvent and using too much energy to power it.

2. The parts washer uses eco-friendly solvents

There are three types of solvents that washers use. These are water-based solvents, petroleum-based solvents, and bioremediation solvents.

Each gets the job done well — but one is an environmental hazard.

Using a petroleum-based parts washer might land you in trouble with the environmental protection agency in your area, so it’s better to go with the water-based or bioremediation solvents instead.

3. The parts washer must have a good safety rating

You also want to ensure that your parts washer isn’t a potential fire hazard.

Examine the safety rating of each parts washer that you consider buying before making a final decision.

Chances are that your workspace is filled with flammable material so safety should be one of your top priorities.

4. The parts washer must come from a good brand

Just like Nike and Adidas are to shoes, there are parts washer brands that evoke trust in consumers.

One such brand is Vital Manufacturing. They have parts washers for all types and sizes of machinery.

Ultimately, the parts washer you choose is up to you. The four qualities outlined are meant to guide you into making a good purchase.
