What does it take to make it big in business?

According to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, anyone can reach the top if they’re willing to put in the work.

Some of this year’s honourees started at the bottom, and have been steadily climbing that ladder.

Top 40 Under 40

Since 1995 the Caldwell organization has been showcasing some of the greatest business minds in Canada through their Top 40 Under 40 program.

The 40 coveted positions are regularly awarded to young Canadians who have accomplished outstanding achievements in business.

They celebrate more than just financial success and are also awarded to innovators and visionaries who have made significant changes to the way business is approached.

Honourees

The most recent honourees were recently selected by the advisory board of respected industry, community, and professional leaders.

Among the honourees are business founders, CEOs, scientists, and investors.

While some of the honourees come from wealthy families or business backgrounds, some are first-generation immigrants who built their fortune from the ground up.

From The Bottom Up

One striking example is honouree Kosi Stobbs, who started his career at the grill of a Burger King and bought his first investment asset at the age of 22.

Stobbs became a millionaire at 30, and after writing a book about his success, now offers mastery courses on real estate investment.

The list contains a number of similar success stories, including a chief executive officer who started off selling grass seed at 9 years old, and a CEO whose first job was at an amusement park.

What It Takes

According to most of the honourees on the list, what it takes to make it big in business is a whole lot of determination…

…coupled with a willingness to invest in yourself, a willingness to take risks, and the personal fortitude to never give up.

Many of the success stories contain similar anecdotes that suggest the road to the top is never easy, but that it’s possible to get there if you stick to the right path.
